If you are or plan to become a manager in a global or multinational company, the MAGBM programme can certainly help you to crystallize your past experiences and offer constructive advice on how to become an effective manager in an ethnically diverse workplace. The programme can broaden your global perspective and highlight the need to adjust strategies, company or functional policies, and work procedures to cater to the preferences and dynamics within different cultural and corporate settings. The knowledge learnt from the MAGBM programme was and will continue to be very invaluable to me. It has organized my work knowledge and experiences into well-defined categories of theories based on in-depth academic research for future use. I highly recommend this programme to all aspiring managers out there.

If I had to choose a Master Degree programme on management studies, I would choose MAGBM again. I found the programme structure and the course contents very attractive. Not limited to those working in an MNC, the global perspective offered by the programme is beneficial and practical in our daily work. From the programme, we enriched our knowledge from the formal lectures. The most stimulating and interesting component of the programme was the interaction with the classmates and professors through case studies and group course works, where our brilliant ideas were generated and shared. Since the whole class went through the programme together, we were able to build up a very closely knit group which enhanced our study relationship, networking, etc. We have continued to remain in contact after the completion of the programme. I hope other students who are taking or who are planning to take the programme will enjoy it as much as I did.

The Department of Management has responded to Hong Kong’s position as an international business center in providing the programme, meeting the evolving needs of business students. This programme has added value for me, helping me to develop a high level of mastery in integrating the global dimensions of key business functions. After the programme, I acquired insights needed to successfully conduct business across political, economic and cultural boundaries. The programme also enhanced my ability in business problem-solving. Many thanks to the University and to all from the Department of Management who educated and enabled me to contribute positively to the local and global communities and overcome the challenges ahead.

After completing the programme, I strongly felt that the traditional approach of working harder and longer would not make me a winner unless I have formulated a sound strategy and reviewed my strategy from time to time. I definitely feel that I can approach a potential law and order issue with more dimensions than before.

I enjoyed the MAGBM a lot as it has a well-designed curriculum which combined both theoretical framework and practical applications. My classmates came from a diversified background and the professors gave in-depth insights which offered an unmatched environment for exchange and stimulation of innovative ideas. I am thankful to all the instructors who demonstrated a truly dedicated teaching. Dr. Ahktar’s interesting illustration of Hofstede’s model, Dr. Rensvold’s valuable advice to my group’s final project and Dr. Mondejar’s effort in bridging the alumni network. In particular, the programme not only is helpful to my next postgraduate studies but also boosts my career in particular by helping me oversee the development of the Asia market.

I found that obtaining an MAGBM degree was not about getting a higher qualification to keep my job under the current downsizing trend, nor increasing my competitiveness to change jobs, although it could certainly help. It meant much more. It was a learning experience characterized by a condensed and diverse coverage on various global business concepts and cultural aspects. The MAGBM programme provided me with a good fundamental exposure on global business practices. It stimulated my reflection on how I interacted with my overseas business partners; the programme was considered to be both very practical and inspirational. I will recommend this programme to anyone who is keen in truly learning international or global business.
