Hong Kong PhD Fellowship

Established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) since 2009, the “Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme” has brought over talented students from around the world to Hong Kong to undertake PhD studies. The Fellowship provides the following for each awardee:

• a monthly stipend of HK$26,600; and
• conference and research related travel allowance of HK$13,300 per year.

In addition, successful Fellowship recipients who applied through CityU will be awarded the Chow Yei Ching School of Graduate Studies Entrance Scholarship at a value of HK$81,096, which cover students’ tuition and on-campus hostel accommodation fees in their first year of research studies.

University Grants Council (UGC) Scholarship

CityU offers UGC scholarship to PhD students.  Please refer to https://www.cityu.edu.hk/pg/research-degree-programmes/scholarships-financial-aid-and-fees.

• a monthly scholarship of around HK$17,000; and
• tuition waiver (HK$42,000) for PhD students with outstanding academic performance.

In addition, various types of financial support will be provided to eligible students to undertake research related activities and to attend international academic conferences.
