The MSc in Business and Data Analytics (MScBDA) programme aims to cultivate students with professional knowledge of business data analytics through active learning of the theories, methods, supporting techniques across a wide range of knowledge areas such as applied statistics, big data management, data mining and social media analytics.

The MScBDA (QAB) programme offers many graduates of Hong Kong tertiary institutions an opportunity to enhance their business data analytical skills and become more effective decision makers in their organisations. Many of our graduates hold managerial positions in business and industrial sectors. Potential students of the programme are the graduates of:

  • accounting, economics and finance;
  • business, management, marketing and administration;
  • computer science, information systems, and mathematics;
  • engineering;
  • and whose career path has led them in the direction where business data analytics has a significant role

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor degree holders from any disciplines with the curricula covering appropriate mathematical knowledge. 
  • Graduates of non-English-speaking institutions should meet the following minimum English proficiency requirement:
  • A TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based test) or 59 (revised paper-delivered test) or 79 (internet-based test); or
  • An overall band score of 6.5 in IELTS; or
  • Band 6 in the Chinese mainland's College English Test (a minimum score of 450 or above);

The Information Analytics Management (IAM) stream is offered by the Department of Information Systems, and Quantitative Analysis for Business (QAB) stream is offered by the Department of Management Sciences.
