EY Open Science Data Challenge of 2024

Date: 31 March 2024
Details:

The annual EY Open Science Data Challenge of 2024 ( https://challenge.ey.com/ ) has kicked off on February 1 until March 31. The data challenge centered around coastal resilience will be using satellite data and AI to build predictive models that will help vulnerable communities manage and recover from extreme climate events. After preventing bush fires, safeguarding eco-systems, improving the yield of rice, topic for 2024 focuses on coastal resilience, or:   🌊 🌊 🌊 How can data and AI be a lifeline for a vulnerable coastline?

There are two phases of goal in this challenge:

  • The phase-1 goal of the challenge will be to develop machine learning and AI models using high-resolution satellite data to assess storm damage and support disaster response and recovery efforts in data-poor coastal environments. â€‹
  • The phase-2 goal of the challenge is to develop a practical "business plan" that describes how your phase-1 model could be applied by local beneficiaries to assess coastal infrastructure damage, vulnerability, socioeconomic impact, and climate change risk for future storms. â€‹

Participants can subscribe at any time on EY website, will have access to curated learning and the brightest ideas are up for cash prizes to 10,000 USD and a trip to Athens, Greece! You can participate as an individual or as a team up to 4 people.
