Beijing Dacheng Law Offices
As a lawyer with over 30 years of experience in cross-border legal practice, I specialize in a diverse range of areas, including capital markets, dispute resolution, mergers and acquisitions, data compliance, bankruptcy restructuring, and wealth management for high-net-worth clients. Currently, I am based at the Shanghai office of Dacheng Law Offices, one of China’s oldest and most prestigious partnership law firms, boasting over 50 offices nationwide. Our alliance with Dentons extends our global reach across 81 countries, providing a robust platform for collaboration. Leading a team of over 800 staff members, including more than 600 lawyers in Shanghai alone, I am well-positioned to oversee complex cross-border cases and manage multidisciplinary teams on capital markets, transactions, and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) projects. This dynamic environment has been instrumental in growing my practice over the past 16 years, and I am grateful for the opportunities it has afforded me.
I am genuinely thrilled about the opportunity to join the Global EMBA programme at City University of Hong Kong. This programme aligns seamlessly with my professional aspirations for several compelling reasons. First, its curriculum stands out for its comprehensive and flexible structure, featuring seven residential modules, online core courses, and an extensive array of electives. This design enables me to systematically study traditional EMBA topics such as enterprise management, financial strategy, IT strategy, marketing, operations, and supply chain management. Moreover, it offers invaluable exposure to cutting-edge subjects like Web3, stablecoins, and other digital assets—topics that are both timely and highly pertinent to my field.
Second, the programme’s robust emphasis on cross-border and global perspectives is a perfect fit as I plan to expand our legal practice into Hong Kong and the ASEAN region, with a focus on cross-border legal services. The EMBA provides an ideal platform for this growth, while the alumni network offers exceptional opportunities to connect with entrepreneurs and professionals from Hong Kong, Macao, Mainland China, and ASEAN—regions critical to our expansion plans, including the Middle East and Belt and Road countries. I am particularly eager to learn from a diverse cohort of professors and peers, ranging from tech executives to finance leaders, which will enable me to blend my legal expertise with strategic business insights—a skill increasingly vital as clients seek advisors with a holistic understanding of the market.
At this juncture in my career, I am deeply passionate about redefining our approach to business innovation and technological advancement. In today’s highly competitive landscape—especially within China’s service industries—the legal profession faces mounting pressure to innovate. I am convinced that the key to success lies in embracing emerging technologies, particularly the integration of artificial intelligence in legal and broader service sectors. Developing and implementing forward-thinking, technology-driven business models represents one of the most pressing and exhilarating challenges of our time, and I am eager to lead this transformation.
The CityUHK Global EMBA programme embodies the values of Empowerment, Leadership, Innovation, Transformation, and Excellence. I anticipate that it will empower me to take greater ownership of my legal career, equipping me with the leadership skills necessary to navigate competitive business environments, foster innovative thinking, and enhance strategic problem-solving capabilities. Ultimately, I believe this programme will arm me with the tools to evaluate and design strategic plans that drive innovation and transformation within the legal industry, particularly in the Global-Asian context. My ambition is to elevate my legal career to new heights and emerge as a visionary leader in the field.
