The Department of Economics and Finance at CityU is pleased to announce that Team Quadra Brains, made up of four students Ni Chongbo (BBA in Finance), Yeh Yun Ting (BBA in Business Economics), Zhang Wan Ting (BBA in Business Economics) and Sun He (BBA in Accountancy), was awarded 1st runner-up with a cash prize of $4,000 in the Hong Kong Undergraduate Financial Planners of the Year Award 2015 organized by the Society of Registered Financial Planners (HKRFP).
In addition, we are pleased to announce that Team Gladiator, Kam Chung Yin (BBA in Business Economics), Tso Ho Cheung (BBA in Finance), Kwok Ming Ho (BBA in Finance) and Leung Ka Ho (BBA in Accountancy), was awarded 2nd runner-up with a cash prize of $3,000. The Awards Presentation Ceremony was held on November 14, 2015.
In the first round of the competition, teams were required to submit a written financial proposal for a real-life case in details. Team Quadra Brains made use of all the information provided in the case to build a business proposal. In the second round, teams were required to submit a videotaped oral presentation of their proposal. The judges assessed their presentation skills by how clearly, systemically and effectively they presented their ideas. In the final round, the teams were required to give a presentation on a topical issue. The topic of this year was "The potentials and risks in promoting financial planning through family office model in China".
We are also pleased to announce that Team SEA, made up of four students Lam To Kwong (BBA in Banking and Financial Services), Charlie Yoga (BBA in Banking and Financial Services), Ng Li Theng (BBA in Finance) and Yang Yue (BBA in Finance), was awarded "Certificate of Merits" for their efforts in preparing a professional financial proposal.
The Department appreciates the efforts and time put in by our part-time lecturer, Dr. Stephanie Fan, in providing guidance to our students during the competition. We encourage our students to join these competitions to sharpen their skills as financial planners and learn from the critique of industry experts.
