About 80 local and international students from the College enjoyed the night celebrating the Chinese New Year on 7th February. The College’s Exchange Student Club has organised the event, providing the exchange students an opportunity to experience the Chinese traditions and customs in the festival. The event was funded by the Student-initiated Projects (SIP) under the Global Services Office at CityU.

International students came to learn about traditional customs of Chinese New Year through different kinds of festive decorations and activities. Every student received a red packet, which contained a chocolate coin and Chinese New Year greetings message. The students tried different kinds of food, such as the radish cake, poon choi, festive delicacies, and dumplings, etc.  They also learned about writing couplets and using red packet envelopes to make festive lanterns, and putting on traditional Chinese costumes.

We hope that the Chinese New Year becomes a memorable experience for all exchange students!
