The College of Business is one of the premier business schools in Asia, offering a full suite of programmes from BBA, BSc, MBA, MSc, EMBA, DBA to PhD level, as well as specialist executive education courses. We provide a vibrant and multi-cultural learning environment with diversified faculty and student profiles, as well as hundreds of institutional partners around the world. We are passionate about teaching and research and are currently ranked #41 worldwide for research. We are continuously expanding our work horizons. Here are some recent highlights.

Teaching

Our BBA programmes are designed to open minds to a broad-based world of knowledge, whilst allowing for deep immersion in subject-specific content. The double major offers the flexibility to take a more interdisciplinary approach to inquiry, and interactive learning is emphasized in all our taught programmes.

Our programmes are as international in outlook as Hong Kong itself: we offer Joint bachelor’s degree programmes with Columbia University, New York, and National Taiwan University, Taipei. We also stay at the forefront of curricula innovation with the introduction of the BSc in Computational Finance and Financial Technology and BBA Global Business to our range of programmes.

To leverage Hong Kong’s unique position as an international City and a gateway to China, we have introduced an EMBA (Chinese) programme to our postgraduate portfolio and now have the largest intake of students for a Chinese EMBA in Hong Kong. We also go beyond traditional academic discipline boundaries and have launched innovative EMBA + MPA programmes with Tsinghua University, starting Spring 2019.

Research

The College of Business has a rich tradition in conducting impactful and thoughtful research projects of the highest quality. We place special emphasis on ground-breaking interdisciplinary projects and are involved in two Theme-based Research Schemes: “Delivering 21st Century Healthcare in Hong Kong – Building a Quality-and-Efficiency Driven System”, was the first of its kind at CityU, and was approved by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council in 2014. Our faculty are also involved in a second project, “Safety, Reliability, and Disruption Management of High Speed Rail and Metro Systems”, which started in 2016.

We also collaborate with leading international partners on major initiatives such as Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) and Belt-and-Road: in 2016, we signed an agreement with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and Tsinghua University. The Research Centre on One-Belt-One-Road was established to enhance high-impact interdisciplinary research capability on this major social and economic initiative.
