Professor Stephen Shum, Dean of the College of Business, delivered an engaging opening speech, challenging students to ponder their future with the thought-provoking question, “Where do you want to be when you graduate?” He encouraged freshmen to envision their goals clearly and to maximise their time at CityUHK by actively engaging in learning, collaboration, and innovation.
Professor Alvin Leung, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programmes), reinforced this message by emphasising the opportunities available to students. “Your journey here is a unique opportunity to build the skills, mindset, and network that will shape your future,” Professor Leung remarked. “By teaming up with your peers, embracing new technologies, and rising to challenges, you can position yourself for success beyond graduation.”

Dr Leung’s presentation inspired students to consider the role of innovation in shaping their future careers and the broader society.
Student leaders from the College of Business Student Leadership Chapter (CBSLC) organised interactive activities designed to foster a sense of belonging among the new cohort. Additionally, a specially produced video was premiered to guide students in navigating their university experience and accessing essential support services.
As the event drew to a close, the freshmen expressed their excitement about embracing the values of collaboration, innovation, and growth embodied in the “Team up, Tech up, Rise up” theme. With the backing of a vibrant community and an innovative learning environment, CityUHK’s College of Business is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of forward-thinking business leaders.
