Sharing Impactful DBA Research in the Industry

Dr Barry Lee, DBA 2016 Graduate, was invited as a guest speaker in the Institution of Civil Engineers Hong Kong Association Annual Conference held at The Mira Hong Kong on 28th April 2017. The event was organized by the Institution of Civil Engineers and this year, to support Dr Lee to share his research in the society, CityU Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme was one of the Gold Sponsors to the event with the financial support from the Teaching Excellence Award Grant from Professor Muammer Ozer, DBA Programme Director.

Themed on Strengthening Competence and Competitiveness for Internationalization of Hong Kong’s Construction Industry, the event brought together experts from many strands of the construction industry to share their insights and expertise on their disciplines and attracted over 260 participants.

The event was kicked off with an Opening Address by CK Hon, JP, Permanent Secretary for Development (Works) of the HKSAR Government, followed by 10 presentations and panel discussions by professionals throughout the day. As the Director of ATAL Engineering Limited and a Graduate of CityU DBA programme, Dr Lee spoke to the audience on Motives and Factors affecting a Firm’s Internationalization: Evidence from Hong Kong Engineering Companies and presented his DBA research findings.

Dr Lee expressed that it was a valuable experience as it was a precious opportunity for him to share his DBA research on internationalization of engineering firm with his peers in the local construction industry. The event was brought to a successful close with fruitful discussions and inspiration among the participants.
