Dr Monica Tang, DBA graduate, presented her paper in Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology 35th Annual Conference

Dr Monica Tang, graduated in 2019, has recently presented her paper as a poster, co-authored with Dr Catherine Lam of our Department of Management, in Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) 35th Annual Conference.

The paper “Skip-Level Participation and Helping Behavior: The Role of Leader-Leader Exchange" is about employees’ helping behaviors. It suggests participative leadership behaviors of leaders higher up (coined skip-level participation) may promote these helping behaviors. A skip-level leader is the leader above the direct leader of a focal employee. Her research shows that skip-level participation positively influences a focal employee’s helping behaviors by influencing his/her organization-based self-esteem and job satisfaction.

SIOP is a division within American Psychological Association (APA). The Society's mission is to enhance human well-being and performance in organizational and work settings by promoting the science, practice, and teaching of industrial-organizational psychology.
