Abstract: This research-in-progress study is one of the first empirical studies to shed light on the effects of seniors' digital and health literacies on their sports and recreation-related injury (SRI) prevention behaviors. It draws on the outcome expectancy theory to investigate the mechanism by which digital-health literacy increases the awareness of SRI prevention in seniors and encourages their purchases of SRI prevention tools. It also suggests that various helping behaviors can be regarded as moderators of the aforementioned relationships. A quantitative survey and follow-up focus group sessions will be conducted in Hong Kong. The findings of this study may hint at the behaviors of senior populations in other aging societies and inspire public policy and marketing strategies. Preliminary data collection and analysis results will be presented at the conference. © 2024 IADIS Press.
