Abstract:

This study aims to propose AI-health literacy (AIHL) and examine its impacts on the AI-mediated purchase decision of sports and recreation-related injury prevention (SRIP) tools & usage of the purchased tools, which has significant implications for health and wellness. Also, the empirical findings of this study will provide evidence that AIHL can empower individual's self-directed learning on SRIP. Data will be collected through a quantitative survey and follow-up focus group sessions. Using SPSS, multiple regression analysis will be performed to test the moderated mediating effects of outcome expectancy (i.e., the perceived SRIP outcomes) and prosocial attitude (i.e., offer-help vs selfhelp) on the relationship between AIHL and SRIP tool purchase. A high level of AIHL is expected to increase the SRIP tool purchase, while the outcome expectancy will mediate the effects of AIHL on SRIP tool purchase. The prosocial attitude will further moderate the mediation relationship, such that outcome expectancy will have a weaker effect on SRIP tool purchase when the prosocial attitude is high (i.e., offer-help is higher than self-help). Also, impulsive SRIP tool purchase is expected to reduce the usage of the purchased tools.
