MS PhD Alumni Won 2015 CORS Practice Prize

A research team led by Prof. Guoqing Zhang (MS PhD 2000 and now a professor at the University of Windsor) has won the prestigious Practice Prize of the Canadian Operational Research Society. The prize recognizes an outstanding application of operational research by a Canadian that has had a significant, verifiable and quantifiable impact on the performance of the client organization. The title of the winning project is “Modeling of the Air Cargo Network Flow Optimization”. The Prize was awarded on June 16, 2015 at the CORS National Conference in Montreal. Air Canada Cargo provides direct services to over 150 Canadian and international destinations with 2014 revenue of $502 million. The research team provided an optimization based tool to support both strategic and operational level decisions that has already been put to use to make decisions on changes to the Air Canada Fleet.
