The College of Business at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and BOC Group Life Assurance Company Limited (BOC Life) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 24 June 2026, marking the launch of a strategic partnership aimed at advancing business education, talent development, and industry-academia collaboration in Hong Kong.
The signing ceremony, witnessed by Prof Chun-sing LEE, Acting President, marks a significant milestone for both organisations, reflecting a shared commitment to cultivating future-ready leaders who can thrive in a rapidly evolving global environment. The collaboration centres on building an integrated “education ecosystem” that bridges academic excellence with industry expertise.
The partnership underscores a common belief that education is a cornerstone of sustainable societal and economic development. Through this collaboration, the College of Business and BOC Life aim to enhance students’ learning experiences by combining academic knowledge with real-world insights and opportunities.
A highlight of the collaboration is the establishment of the BOC Life Scholarships Endowment Fund, which will provide sustained financial support to outstanding undergraduate students. As an endowment, the fund is designed to create a lasting impact, benefiting generations of students by enabling them to pursue academic excellence and broaden their global exposure.

The partnership builds on an existing relationship between the two organisations, including collaboration through the College’s Marketing Consultancy Programme since 2020. Through such initiatives, students have already demonstrated strong creativity, professionalism, and problem-solving capabilities in real business contexts.
Looking ahead, the collaboration will further strengthen experiential learning opportunities, enabling students to engage with industry professionals, gain practical experience, and better understand evolving market demands—especially in areas shaped by technological transformation such as AI.
BOC Life’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and youth development lies at the heart of the initiative. By supporting talent cultivation, the company seeks to contribute to Hong Kong’s sustainable smart future development.
The partnership will provide substantial benefits to both the College and its students:
- Enhanced financial support through the endowed scholarships, allowing students to focus on their studies and pursue enrichment activities
- Expanded global opportunities, including exchanges, case competitions, and international exposure
- Stronger industry connections that prepare students for future careers
Mr Wilson TANG, Chief Executive of BOC Life, emphasises the long-term vision behind the Education Ecosystem Strategic Partnership Programme.
For the College, the collaboration reinforces its mission to deliver forward-looking business education grounded in its “3I” framework—Intelligence, Innovation, and Internationalisation—while strengthening its ties with a leading industry partner.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Wilson TANG, Chief Executive of BOC Life, emphasised the long-term vision behind the partnership, “This partnership reflects our shared belief that education is one of the most powerful investments we make for the future of our society. Through the establishment of the perpetual endowment fund, we hope to provide lasting support for outstanding students with financial needs and empower them to pursue their aspirations with confidence.” He added, “Together, we are building a platform that connects academic excellence with industry expertise, creating meaningful opportunities for students to learn, grow, and contribute to Hong Kong’s future.”
Professor Stephen SHUM, Dean of the College of Business, remarked, “This marks an important milestone in our commitment to nurturing future business leaders and advancing talent development in Hong Kong.” Professor Shum also highlighted how the initiative will directly benefit students, “The BOC Life Endowment Scholarships will provide lasting support, enabling our students to pursue global opportunities and achieve their full potential.” He particularly expressed his appreciation to Ms Grace YU, MH, University Council Member, who kindly facilitated this partnership.
The MOU signals the start of a long-term partnership that aims to shape the next generation of business leaders while contributing to Hong Kong’s development as an international hub for innovation and talent.
By combining academic excellence with industry insight and sustained investment in student success, CityUHK College of Business and BOC Life are poised to create a meaningful, lasting impact—not only for individual students but also for the broader community and the future economy.
