Events and Seminars

The College of Business hosted the first event in the Emerging Trends Seminar Series at the Connie Fan Multi-media Conference Room, CityU on 30th November. Jointly organised by CB’s Executive Education Unit and the Department of Economics and Finance, the seminar explored challenges and possible future development in Hong Kong’s wealth management and private banking sector. More than 40 executives from the local business community participated in the seminar.

Prof Houmin Yan, Dean of the College of Business, opened the seminar series. Mr Simon Topping, Principal of the Financial Services Regulatory Centre of Excellence (ASPAC Region), KPMG, then delivered a featured talk on Regulatory Challenges for Financial Institutions: A Global Issue. Seven senior executives from leading banking/finance institutions joined the panel discussions on topics related to compliance issues in Asian regions and how to enhance Hong Kong’s competitiveness in asset management and private banking. Dr Wilson FC Chan and Dr Michael CS Wong, both from the Department of Economics and Finance, also participated in the panel discussions. Panel members shared their valuable insights on regulatory and compliance issues in the areas of wealth management and private banking in global and regional settings.

Given the volatility of financial markets, the seminar spurred great interest in the local business community, and also provided an opportunity for CB faculty members to discuss and interact with a wide range of Hong Kong business professionals.
