Second open lecture@Shenzhen

The College of Business’s Centre for Advanced Business Research and Executive Education (Shenzhen) held its second open lecture of the Intelligence Gathering Programme at the CityU Shenzhen Research Institute on 12th April.

Prof Wenyu Dou, Associate Dean of CB and Professor of Department of Marketing was invited to deliver a lecture on social media marketing to international advertising research experts, including managerial staff from Huawei Technology Co., Ltd. and Dongguan Tianan Cyber Park.

During the lecture, Prof Dou analyzed the causes of the emergence of social media marketing and pointed out the significant benefits of these widely used marketing tools.  Through vivid case studies, Prof Dou demonstrated how companies and institutes make use of the social media platform to achieve marketing targets.  He also analyzed the similarities and differences between microblog and WeChat marketing, and elaborated on methods of combining social media marketing with offline marketing activities to produce a synergetic effect.

The lecture was followed by an informal sharing session which it is hoped will form a basis for further communication between lecturer and audience.
