City University of Hong Kong has achieved a remarkable leap in global accounting research rankings, up to Global 11th this year from Global 22nd last year taking the three-year period (2017-2019), according to the BYU (Brigham Young University) Accounting Rankings.

Professor Kim Jeong Bon, Head of the Accountancy Department, said: “I would like to thank all of our research faculty for their concerted effort in publishing such innovative and excellent research in leading journals. I am sure our research work will collectively benefit our students, stakeholders, the accountancy profession, and the wider community.”

The BYU research ranking is based on the number of articles published in the top five accounting journals comprising Journal of Accounting and Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, The Accounting Review, the Contemporary Accounting Research and Review of Accounting Studies.

Based upon the same rankings, CityU was ranked First in the Asia-Pacific region, including China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan.
