Career talk sparks interest amongst aspiring marketing students

The Department of Marketing organized its first career talk of 2020-2021“Planning for your future. Now’s the chance!” via Zoom on 14 Nov 2020, with 60 students attending. 

Mr Johnson Lo, Chairman of The Chartered Institute of Marketing, Hong Kong (CIMHK); Dr  Louis Poon, Vice Chairman (Education) CIMHK; Ms Sherry Shi, Vice Chairman (Marketing & PR) CIMHK & Managing Director of Novsphere Media; and Mr Wilson Wong, Associate Marketing Director, Price.com.hk Limited were invited to share their experience with students wishing to pursue careers in fields such as digital advertising, e-commerce, event management, finance, fintech, food & beverage, media, and public relations.

Dr Louis Poon said, "I am delighted to share my experience with the students especially from a finance technology perspective. The current job market is really competitive and new entrants face a huge challenge to compete globally."

Mr Wilson Wong said, "I hope to bring them up to speed with the latest market trends, industry practices and self-learning resources.”

“We aim to link the industry and the students to give them first-hand experience of engaging with real marketers,” said Dr Fanny Cheung, Career Co-ordinator of Department of Marketing.

Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.
