Accounting Scholars Program (ASP)

The aim of the Accounting Scholars Program (ASP) is to build students’ understanding of business, enhance their inter-personal skills, and to help with their career planning and development.

YIU, Yan Yan Yolly

Yolly, a final year student, expressed her appreciation for the chance to participate in the Accounting Scholar Program.

During the program, students are guided by external and internal mentors. Yolly said she was fortunate to have had a very supportive and caring external mentor from one of the Big 4 accounting firms. The external mentor was always available for consultation and advice.

The program also included consultations on how to prepare a good resume, group interview training, and other training courses that Yolly found extremely useful when seeking graduate employment. Today, she has three job offers from Big 4 accounting firms and believes that the ASP program is a good place to enhance one’s inter-personal skills.

Yolly believes that ASP is necessary for students who wish to have a career in one of the Big 4 accounting firms.

LEE, Shuk Ting Anita

Anita is a penultimate year student and joined ASP in Year 2. Her most valuable experience through the program was business etiquette training.

ASP provides participants with various training workshops and Anita found Wine Tasting to be the most helpful. In this workshop, students are given opportunities to taste and differentiate various wines. This training helped her at a business cocktail event during her internship in an accounting firm.

Moreover, Anita said the ASP helped her to improve her inter-personal skills. Previously, she was uncomfortable when meeting people for the first time. After her training in ASP, she had more self-confidence and this has positively affected her performance.
