The Career Development Advisory Committee for Business Master Programmes convened its inaugural meeting on 17 December 2025, marking the formation of the Committee is dedicated to enhancing the career prospects of our business master's students.
The Committee serves as a pivotal platform for advising the College on strategies to fortify employment opportunities; to foster effective career development planning tailored to the needs of our master’s students; to advise the College on current employment market intelligence and demands for planning and enhancement; and, to identify and connect the College with appropriate industry professionals, corporations and community for brand building and development of potential career development activities.
The inaugural committee meeting began with an introduction by Professor Stephen Shum, Dean of the College of Business, who expressed his sincere gratitude for the commitment and contributions of the committee members. Prof. Shum also shared his vision for the College, including Intelligence, Innovation, and Internationalisation, and its importance in talent development.
Professor Albert Ip, Chairman and founder of the Advisory Committee, who echoed these sentiments, recognising the invaluable expertise and insights contributed by the corporate leaders’ present. Prof. Ip shared “To enhance the economic development in Hong Kong, the Government is developing an education hub, both locally and globally. It is our strong belief that in addition to nurturing a group of talented graduates in our master’s programme in the College of Business, it is equally important to retain them to work in Hong Kong, thereby benefitting our economy.”

The committee comprised executives from a diverse array of industries—including banking, wealth management, institutional banking, finance, real estate and executive office —demonstrating a comprehensive commitment to nurturing the next generation of business leaders.
Through collaborative discussions, the committee focused on key initiatives that will empower students to cultivate effective attributes and positive attitudes necessary for successful career development. Members shared their insights on industry trends, in-demand skills, and best practices for career advancement, creating a rich dialogue that aimed to equip students with the tools they need for their professional journeys.
As we look to the future, the College of Business is enthusiastic about implementing the strategies discussed and fostering ongoing collaboration with industry leaders to enhance our students' learning experiences and career readiness. This partnership promises to create pathways for our students that not only prepare them for their careers but also position them as future leaders in their respective fields.
