On 26 August 2026, the College of Business (CB) at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) hosted its annual College Orientation, welcoming more than 700 freshmen to the CB family. Under the theme “Next-Gen Business Starts Here”, the event encouraged students to embrace innovation, develop a global outlook, and prepare themselves for future opportunities in an increasingly technology-driven world.
Professor Stephen Shum, Dean of CB, warmly welcomes the new students.
Professor Stephen Shum, Dean of the College of Business, warmly welcomed the new students and encouraged them to take a forward-looking approach to their university journey. Highlighting the growing impact of artificial intelligence on industries and careers, he reminded students that future success will depend on their ability to adapt, learn continuously and embrace emerging technologies. He also encouraged students to make full use of the opportunities available at the College to build their capabilities and prepare for future careers.
Professor Alvin Leung, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programmes), reinforced this message by introducing the College's 3Is: Innovation, Intelligence and Internationalisation. He encouraged freshmen to develop these qualities throughout their studies and highlighted the diverse learning opportunities available through the College's flexible curriculum, global programmes and career-focused initiatives.

A highlight of the orientation was the keynote sharing by Mr Wilson Wong, Marketing Director of Price.com.hk and a proud CB alumnus. In his talk, “How to Embrace AI in U-Life”, Wilson explored how artificial intelligence is transforming business and everyday life. Drawing on his professional and personal experiences, he shared practical insights on how students can leverage AI to enhance learning, creativity and productivity throughout their university journey.
As part of the orientation programme, the College of Business Student Leadership Chapter (CBSLC) created an original orientation video featuring a freshman character who navigates university life and overcomes common challenges new students face. To complement the storyline, CBSLC also organised the interactive “CB Coin Challenge”, where freshmen participated in a series of activities to collect CB Coins and help the character progress through the journey. The game-based activities brought energy and excitement to the event while introducing students to key opportunities and resources available at the College.

Guided by the theme “Next-Gen Business Starts Here,” the College remains committed to nurturing innovative, globally minded and future-ready business leaders. Welcome to the College of Business, and best wishes for a rewarding and transformative journey ahead.
