The Department of Information Systems (IS) is pleased to announce the results of the Department of Information Systems Outstanding Alumni Award 2022 to recognize our outstanding alumni that have demonstrated remarkable personal achievements and made significant contributions to the Department of Information Systems.
2022
Dick Lai is currently a Team Lead for Technology and Operational Compliance at DBS Bank in Hong Kong. He has 13 years of experience in the regulatory and financial crime compliance sector of the banking industry. While at HSBC, Mr. Lai served as the compliance officer for PAYME and was later delegated to lead a review of the Code of Banking Practice with the Hong Kong Association of Banks in 2021. He also led part of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) HK remediation workstream in 2017 and holds a Certified AML Professional certification from the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers.
In addition to his professional achievements, Mr. Lai has supported student development and growth since his university days. He currently serves on the Incorporated Management Committees of a primary and secondary school and has been participating in the CityU IS Alumni Mentorship program as an alumni mentor since 2010. He actively participates in alumni activities and promotional events to help external parties better understand CityU. Mr. Lai has also given back to society by sharing his experience and volunteering as an advisor for various student competitions.
Mr. Lai graduated with a BBA from the CityU Information Systems Department with First Class Honours and holds a PgD in Program and Project Management from the University of Warwick.
Dr. Kelvin WAN is the first PMI Authorized Training Partner (PMI-ATP) and Approved Master Trainer in Asia Pacific. He is the master trainer of many professional organizations globally and in HK including, e.g. Hong Kong Computer Society (iLEAP), Hong Kong Digital Finance Association (HKDiFi) and Association of Cloud and Mobile Computing Professionals (ACMCP)…etc
During his HSBC Master-trainer-ship and PMI (Project Management Institute) vice-presidency period, more than 10,000 experienced IT/IS/Digital Transformation working executives were upskilled in live-settings from more than 50 counties with average working experience of 15 years.
Kelvin, as an IT/IS veteran professional, has a strong passion on nurturing more new generation of IT/IS/Digital Transformation professionals in HK, GBA (Greater Bay Area) and 1-belt-1-road countries through empowering learners with latest international ESG project management best practices and soft skills.
Currently, Dr. Wan is our CityU College of Business EMBA Adjunct professor teaching subjects like “Technology Management for Innovation” and “Modern Project Management” contributing back to his alma mater and the society.
Mio Chan is an alumnus of CityU BBA Information Management, having graduated in 2013. Mio has been serving as an alumni mentor every year since graduation and has over ten years of experience in marketing and advertising.
Mio founded Mitopia Limited, a marketing agency that provides media planning and buying, social management, and creative production services. He has worked with over 70 regional clients and 100 brands, establishing a reputation for excellence in the industry.
Mio also launched an internship program for CityU BBA students, providing them practical work skills and the opportunity to take marketing-related certificate exams. He also provides industry-sharing and marketing training for students, demonstrating a commitment to giving back to his university.
