When you manage your career, is it meaningful to balance the academic contribution and the entrepreneurial practice? The speaker delivers his answer to this question from an unconven-tional learning path.
Entrepreneurship means “The hard thing about the hard things”. Majority of ventures fail within four years. In the city of Hong Kong, surrounded by the Greater Bay Area, family of-fices and biotech ventures are booming.
The speaker co-founded a biotech venture in Guangzhou. The venture produces innovative monoclonal antibody (mAb) drugs to save people’s lives. This project involves cutting-edge scientific discoveries and commercialization of such innovation. The speaker also chairs a long/short global equity research efforts of a hedge fund with a family office setup in Hong Kong. The bi-weekly rebalancing and trading workflow reveals how listed firms innovate through new product launches, mergers & acquisitions, asset disposals, capital structure ad-justments (e.g., issuing bonds, LBOs). The speaker leverages big data and machine learning for his interdisciplinary empirical research and publication. Learning is a life-time journey. Have fun.
