Kick-off ceremony to celebrate CityU 30th anniversary

CityU  is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2014! A Kick-off ceremony for the establishment of CityU was held at Wong Cheung Lo Hui Yuet Hall in Academic 3 in the afternoon of 22nd January.  The event was jointly opened by Sir Gordon Wu Ying-sheung, Chairman of Hopewell Holdings Ltd. and Honorary Graduate and former Council Chairman of CityU; Dr. Norman Leung Nai-pang, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the 30th Anniversary Organising Committee of CityU; Mr Herman Hu Shao-ming, Council Chairman of CityU; and Professor Way Kuo, President of CityU.

An audience of more than 500 including honourable guests, staff, faculty, students and alumni enjoyed the performances organised by the 30th Anniversary Organizing Committee.  The ceremony introduced several key celebratory events to be scheduled and arranged this year, such as a 30th Anniversary Dinner, a cake-cutting ceremony, and a CityU Homecoming Gala 2014 cum 30th Closing Ceremony to highlight the University’s achievements.  The anniversary cake was sponsored by Alumni of CityU as an appreciation to the University.

A specially designed CityU anniversary logo  is being adopted throughout the year to showcase a new image for the University, one that brings about an inspiring atmosphere of action and progress. “Professional. Creative. For The World.” is the slogan reflecting our dynamic rise and progressive thinking.

Prof. Way Kuo extended his thanks to the staff who have worked so hard to make the ceremony a success as well as other upcoming celebratory events. He shared his vision of CityU with the guests:
