MKT students receive recognition for Company Consultancy Projects

The Department of Marketing held a Joint Awards Presentation Ceremony, recognizing outstanding Company Consultancy Projects produced by BBA Marketing students in Semester A of 2013-2014 at Wei Hing Theatre on 7th January.

Around 100 attendees including students, faculty members, companies’ representatives, and guests were present at the ceremony.  Prof. Horace Ip, Vice-President (Student Affairs) of the University opened the ceremony by giving a welcoming speech to the audience.  

Representatives of five participating companies including The Dairy Farm Company Limited – 7-Eleven, Choi Fook Wedding Banquet Group, A.S. Watson Group (Watson’s The Chemist & Fortress), Hung Fook Tong (China) Development Limited, Otsuka Pharmaceutical (H.K.) Limited, accompanied by Mr. Alex Tham, Senior Teaching Fellow of Department of Marketing, announced the result of the winning teams and delivered the trophies and certificates to the students.  Students shared their excitement in completing their first final year projects on stage during a photo-taking session.  Prof. Chenting Su, Head of Department of Marketing, commended the students’ effort and devotion in their projects and thanked the teaching staff and participating companies for providing support and guidance for students in his closing speech.

The ceremony marked the end of the first semester of the year-long core course – MKT4621 Advanced Marketing Seminar.  Final year students studying in BBA (Hons) Marketing are required to complete the course in the last year of study.  Participating companies provide topics or study parameters related to their products, brands or marketing strategies, and students in teams are asked to assess how companies performed in their marketing business programmes and to propose recommendations for improvement and continuous refinement. The course emphasizes the importance of learning from current issues in the marketing industry.  It also provides ample learning opportunities for students to gain practical experience in real business platforms. 

There will be a second round of projects working with other companies in Semester B while the presentation ceremony will be held at the end of May 2014.
