CB runners ready for Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2014

The annual Hong Kong Marathon organized by the Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association and sponsored by the Standard Chartered Bank will be held on Sunday 16th February.  

A kick-off reception was arranged by CityU Delegation with the support of Student Development Services (SDS) on 7th February at the University circle on campus.  It was headed by Prof Way Kuo, President of CityU. CityU Management Team Prof Arthur Ellis, Provost of CityU, Prof Paul Lam, Chief-of-Staff of CityU, Mr Sunny Lee, Vice-President (Administration) of CityU, Prof Horace Ip, Vice-President (Student Affairs) of CityU, Prof Houmin Yan, Dean of CB, and Mrs Dorothy Davies, Acting Director of SDS, were present to support CityU’s marathon team.  

Dr Ron Kwok, Assistant Dean of CB and Associate Professor of Department of Information Systems, is appointed as the staff representative of the CityU delegation this year. Several staff and students of CB will also take part in different races and sessions.

We wish the CityU runners an enjoyable and successful race!

About the Hong Kong Marathon

The inaugural race in 1997 attracted just 1,000 runners. Numbers have increased dramatically and in 2014 there are over 73,000 participants registered.  In addition to the full marathon, a half marathon, and a 10 km run will also be held.  The race is an annual international sporting event held in Hong Kong and is recognized as a Brand Hong Kong Event by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
