MBA meeting with Ms Agnes Li

Ms Agnes Li, CEO of Business Environment Council (BEC) shared her experience with CityU MBA students for the FB6706 - Executive Discovery & Network course at Academic 3 on 13th March.  BEC offers sustainable solutions and professional services to businesses.

After introducing BEC, Ms Li discussed the rising trend of green buildings including:

  • local property developers’ investment in more sustainable buildings,
  • the roles of property developers, policy makers, and consumers in creating a sustainable architectural environment, and
  • obstacles towards creating a greener Hong Kong

There is a direct correlation between “green” companies and the share performance of member companies, which perform well above the Hang Seng benchmark index.  Ms. Li stressed that as one of the most rapidly changing cities in Asia, Hong Kong has the potential to become a model of sustainable development for other cities in the region.

More than 40 MBA students attended the event which emphasized the importance of sustainable architecture, the desirability of achieving corporate leadership in environmental sustainability, and its competitive value in the market.

Ms Li joined the Business Environment Council in 2011 and has served in a number of senior management positions locally and internationally before joining BEC.  For more information about the speaker, please click here.
