CityU executive programme for Russian government officials

The Executive Education unit of the College of Business (CB) organised an advanced programme in Public Policy & Administration for Russian government officials from 14th to 24th October. The programme was supported by The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA).

The 11-day programme was taught by CB professors at the CityU campus. RANEPA School of Public Policy Dean Prof Sergey Zuev and CityU College of Business Dean Prof Houmin Yan and Executive Development Director of International Programmes Dr Yanni Yan opened the programme welcoming the 26 Russian government officials. Activities included lectures, site visits to tourist attractions and public and private organizations, a final presentation, and a closing dinner with the CityU EMBA alumni.

After the site visit to the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC), programme participant NILOV YAROSLAV, Senator of State Duma, Russian Federation and Head of State Duma Committee on Public Alliances and Religious Affiliations, commented in a news interview that the “Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) in Hong Kong is very effective in defeating corruption, especially in the ‘grassroots’ level of everyday life.”

“I believe that our country [Russia] also needs to create an independent body to fight corruption and the head of this agency should be a politician from parliamentary opposition,” NILOV added.

The students were divided into five groups, each with a CB professor as their project supervisor, to work on a final project. The programme concluded with group presentations and a panel discussion for their findings.

Prof Wenyu Dou, Associate Dean of the College of Business, presented the completion certificates to the students at the Royal Park Hotel on 24th October, followed by a buffet dinner with Dean Prof Yan, CB faculty members, and CityU EMBA alumni.
