CB students win unique opportunity to learn from Hong Kong’s top executives

Two College of Business students were selected out of 100 applicants to join the Shadow a CEO Programme, winning a once-in-a-life chance to follow the daily lives of senior executives for three days. The programme will give winning students a good idea of how top management operates through a series of activities, including an introduction to the brand’s value, management meetings, and corporate social responsibility events.  The contest was part of an event under the Career Forum organized by Classified Post.

Kellie Chow Ngo-ting, Year 3 BBA in Marketing Information Management, shadowed Mr Con Constandis, Managing Director of Pernod Ricard Asia Travel Retail, from 10th – 12th December 2014.

Kellie’s testimonial:

Even though Director Con carries the “boss” title, he is extremely humble and approachable. Instead of giving commands, he demonstrated a high level of trust with his subordinates and delegated the team to achieve common goals. His decentralizing leadership style motivated creativity, diversity, and entrepreneurial spirit.

The three-day programme was well-rounded. I felt privileged to be able to sit in a monthly management meeting, where I could observe the decision making process of senior heads. Con also bought us to a remote island for a corporate social responsibility event. I was deeply inspired to learn that business success is not solely measured by profits but also by contributions to the community. I had a chance to interact with other functional experts and they were enthusiastic to share their knowledge. I enjoyed shadowing Con and believe that this experience will accelerate my personal growth and prepare me to becoming a better business leader in the future.

Cynthia Chik Nga-ting, Final Year BBA in Managerial Statistics, will learn from Mr David Thomas, Senior Vice President of Human Resources Department of Manulife Financial Asia Limited, from 10th – 12th February 2015.
