Outstanding young scholars share internship experience

The Young Scholars Programme (YSP) Mentoring cum Student Presentation Gathering 2015 was held at Academic 3 on 21st March. Around 15 faculty members, mentors, and guests together with 65 CB undergraduates attended the event organized by the College.

With support from participating companies, the programme offered various internship opportunities, aiming to train up students and equip them with professional and practical skills. Three YSP participants were selected to deliver presentations to introduce their local intern jobs and to share their working experience

For overseas internship experience, the following students were invited to share their learning in the YSP Seoul Study Tour:

  • Kitty Tso Yuet-ming (Year 2 BBA in Business Economics)

Prof Julie Li, YSP Team Convenor and Associate Dean of the College of Business (Undergraduate programme), and other Team members, Dr Syed Akhtar, Associate Professor of the Department of Management, Ms Wisteria Cheung, Senior Teaching Fellow of the Department of Marketing, and Mr Alfred Ma, Assistant Professor of the Department of Accountancy, jointly congratulated the students for their outstanding achievements in the toasting ceremony. Prof Li also presented souvenirs to all company representatives expressing gratitude for their support and guidance given to the students.

A cocktail session was arranged before the dinner providing opportunities for mentors and mentees to mingle.

The College launched the Young Scholars Programme in 2009 with the aim of nurturing BBA students to become future leaders in the region/world. The programme provides the following opportunities:

  • Overseas study tour during Year 1 summer break
  • Special career and leadership training and workshops for job placement and further studies
  • Internship placements in multi-national companies arranged locally or overseas
  • Networking with top business students admitted locally and overseas
  • Professional mentorship provided by professors and/ or professional practitioners
  • Cultivation of social responsibility through community services and voluntary work
