CB alumnus wins Innovative Entrepreneur Award


Vincent Ha, BBA Marketing’09, has won the 19th Innovative Entrepreneur Award hosted by the City Junior Chamber. Mr Alex Tham, Assistant Dean of the College and Senior Teaching Fellow of the Department of Marketing, attended the award ceremony to congratulate Vincent’s achievement on 11th July 2015.

The Innovative Entrepreneur Award aims to recognize the achievements of local entrepreneurs based on creativity, conceptuality, and contributions to the society and economy. It provides a platform to aspire young entrepreneurs and promote the entrepreneurial culture of Hong Kong. 

The award was presented by Mr Godfrey Leung King-kwok, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of HKSAR, Mr Allen Zeman, GBM, GBS, JP, and Father of Lan Kwai Fong, and Mr Jordan Yeung, President of City Junior Chamber.

Vincent and two other co-founders established a market research agency Nimbus Insight to develop a mobile survey platform called OneOpinionBox, a tool that facilitates retailers to collect consumers’ feedback and offer discounts via a one-stop electronic solution.

Vincent’s afterthoughts for receiving the award:

It is my honour to receive this award and I would like to take this opportunity to thank my two co-founders, Mr Patrick Cheung and Mr Richard Cheung, for their dedications in developing OneOpinionBox.

I would also like to thank Mr Alex Tham, Ms Wisteria Cheung, Senior Teaching Fellow of the Department of Marketing, and Ms Daisy Lee, Visiting Fellow of the Department of Marketing, for their professional advice on the product and business development.

It is not easy to run a start-up in Hong Kong; you need to be creative and determined for success. You will face countless challenges and failure, but a persistent mind-set will help overcome these barriers. 

I hope to see more start-ups founded by graduates of CityU in the near future!
