EMBA Chinese programme hosts executive training cum alumni dinner in Beijing


The Executive Master of Business Administration (Chinese) (EMBA (Chinese)) programme organized a four-day intensive training programme from 30th July to 2nd August in Beijing, China. Prof Houmin Yan, Dean of the College, led the students through a series of site visit, guest forum, lecture, and alumni dinner.
The group visited 58.com Inc. (58.com), one of the largest classified advertising websites in China. Subsequent to the visit, two senior management of 58.com, together with Prof Rongrong Li, were invited to share their experience at the EMBA CEO Forum.

Mr Xiaohua Chen, Chief Strategy Officer of 58.com and CEO of 58 daojia Life Service Co., Ltd, shared his experience at 58.com and explained how 58 daojia Life Service Co. emerged from a subsidiary to a sister company of 58.com. Mr Dong Duan, Senior Vice President of 58.com, discussed how 58.com developed talents and its effective organizational structure.

Mr Rongrong Li, Chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (2003-2010) and Vice Chairman of China Center for International Economic Exchanges, shared his wisdom on State Enterprise Reform strategies in the Forum.

The EMBA (Chinese) programme have invited Prof Hairong Li, Professor of the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at the Michigan State University, editorial board member of several academic journals in the United States, Europe, and Asia, and Dean of Pan Media Institute, to deliver a two-day lecture on the uses, effects, and implications of digital technologies in advertising, communication and marketing. Dean Yan also presented a lecture for the Leadership Series I: From the Ruins of Empire. Their talks were well received by the students.

Another highlight of the event was the alumni dinner held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Beijing. Over 60 alumni and EMBA students attended the dinner. Dean Yan opened the event by sharing the latest development of the College. Dr Gang Hao, Associate Vice-President of the Development Office of CityU, expressed her gratitude in seeing old friends at the dinner.

Other guest speakers at the dinner were alumni representatives Mr Wei Yu Wang, Deputy General Manager of the Heilongjiang Airport Group, and Mr Wilson Chung, Regional Vice President of International Express at FedEx Express (China); and EMBA students Yi Wang, Gary Hung, Wei-dong Li, and Wen Wang. All the guests had a pleasant evening!
