The College of Business and The Association of Hong Kong Accountants co-organized the Career Symposium & Exhibition at Academic 3 on 29th September.

Prof Houmin Yan, Dean of the College, opened the event with a welcome speech. He expressed gratitude to the industry partners in supporting our students in career searching and internship opportunities.

Booths were set up by eight professional associations and institutes for students to enquire about the career prospects and arrangement for joining professional memberships.

The eight organizations included:

  • The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants
  • CPA Australia
  • Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants
  • Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales
  • Institute of Financial Accountants
  • The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers

The highlight of the symposium was the speech by the keynote speaker Mr Wing-ching Shih, a local successful businessman who established the Centaline Property Agency Limited. Mr Shih shared his interesting stories and work experiences, and gave valuable advice to young people who are interested in starting their own business upon university graduation.

Five other renowned speakers in the industry, Mr David Li, Mr Edmund Tong, Ms Nancy Tse, Ms Jennifer Wong and Dr WH Yeung, also shared their perspectives on career options after graduation during a panel discussion. It was an interactive and inspiring session with the audience.
