IBM round table meeting

City University of Hong Kong and IBM signed a Document of Understanding (DOU) on 16th December 2015 that CityU will establish the Center for Business Analytics with software donated by IBM. Featuring IBM’s advanced big data and analytics software, the Center aims to enhance CityU’s Research and Development capabilities, support the University’s curriculum and talent development, and build a healthy eco-system between the University and the industry in big data and analytics.

Hosted by Dr Geoffrey Tso, Associate Head of the Department of Management Sciences, representatives from IBM and the College faculty members had a meeting today. An overview on several IBM software/services was given, followed by a discussion on how faculty members can apply these resources to support teaching and student projects.  The software/services which were introduced include:

• IBM Decision Optimization
• IBM Watson Analytics
• IBM Watson Cognitive Services

The Center will be open to all teaching staff and students at College to support the University’s teaching, research and developments.
