The College of Business hosted a retreat today at Le Meridien Cyberport. About 80 faculty members and administrative staff attended the event.
Prof  Houmin Yan, gave his opening remarks, followed  by the presentations from the six Department Heads on the feedback given by the  external review panel in the recent 5-Year Review of Academic Excellence  (RoE5). The College was honoured to have Prof Eon Van Der Merwe Smit, who served as the Chairman of the review panel, in the retreat. The Heads shared the unique strengths of each department, including  teaching and learning competitiveness, growing research reputation, positive  student placement and job-ready course offerings, etc. Improvements on  curriculum design and differentiation, research and knowledge transfer, collaborations  across units and colleges in university were also addressed.  
Dr Weiquan  Wang, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programmes)  of the College, presented updates on the College's undergraduate programmes. He  especially highlighted the two newly-established College programmes: BSc  Computational Finance and BBA  Global Business. Dr Wang shared ways  to help the College and Departments to recruit top local and overseas students. 
  
Prof  William Wan, Associate Dean (Research and  Faculty), facilitated in the session of reviewing the College's vision, mission and strategic goals. He shared insights learned from international accreditation association and quoted some examples from peer universities. Colleagues were divided into  groups to share their suggestions.
