DBA Research Seminar brings Insights of transforming SME with innovation


A seminar themed Upgrade and Transform Hong Kong Industry SME with Strategic Innovation, jointly organised by the City University Hong Kong DBA community (DBAC), Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme, was successfully held on 7th December 2015. It aimed to explore the challenges and opportunities in the future development of Hong Kong small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). More than 50 members from FHKI and DBA programme attended the event. The attendees also included Prof Daniel Cheng, Chairman of FHKI and Managing Director of Dunwell Enviro-Tech (Holdings) Ltd and Dr Daniel Yip, Deputy Chairman of FHKI and Managing Director of G. E. W. Corporation Ltd.

The event kicked off with an evening cocktail reception, followed by a welcome speech delivered by Prof Muammer Ozer, Director of the DBA Programme and the winner of the CityU Teaching Excellence Award 2014/2015. Prof Ozer generously donated his teaching grants to support this seminar and other research development initiatives for the DBA programme.

Mr Jude Chow, DBA 2013 cohort and Group Managing Director of Associated Engineers, Limited, shared his thoughts of embarking on SME industrial transformation with strategic innovation, in the hope to boost the sustainability of the business performance and to combat with this fast changing environment. Another keynote speaker, Mr Alan Wong, DBA 2013 cohort and Director of Business Development, Asia, GP Acoustics International, gave a presentation on influencing factors on different types of innovation for SMEs.


Facilitated by Mr Pietro Immordino, DBA 2014 cohort, the seminar ended with a panel discussion to exchange valuable ideas, visions and future trends of SME development.
