MS Explores collaboration opportunities with Taipei Medical University


The Department of Management Sciences (MS) received a delegation from the School of Health Care Administration, Taipei Medical University on 5th April. Around 20 Taiwan students joined an overseas field study tour and visited the Department of Management Sciences during their stopover in Hong Kong. Prof Frank Chen Youhua, Head of the Department of Management Sciences, along with Dr Geoffrey Tso Kwok-fai, Associate Head of the Department, welcomed the delegation and wished them a fruitful and memorable learning experience at CityU.

Dr Eman Leung, Visiting Assistant Professor of the Department of Management Sciences, shared about the local medical system and some case studies on elderly care services. He emphasised on the potential collaborations in research between the two universities, and the direction of utilizing big data analysis in boosting operational efficiency in healthcare.

Dr Yanto Chandra, Assistant Professor of the Department of Management and Department of Public Policy, shared his experience in organising Project Flame, a CityU project that aims to promote social innovation and transformation through professional education, student service leadership, incubation and research, and knowledge transfer.

Associate Professor of the School of Health Care Administration, Taipei Medical University, Dr Elsa Hsu Yi-Hsin, shared about their University’s Golden Dream School Programme and the benefits students gained through oversea study trips and experiential learnings.

During the group discussion, both the Taiwan students and eight student representatives from the Department exchanged views about their learning experiences and school life. Natalie Kwok Yan-tung, BBA Business Operations Management, said, “I enjoy talking to them. They are proactive, friendly and willing to share about what they have done here. We have exchanged ideas on how to apply our knowledge in the healthcare industry.”

Yu-hsuan Wen, a student from Taipei Medical University, said, “I am very impressed by the lectures today. It made me understand more about the medical system in Hong Kong, which is very different from ours in Taiwan."
