EMBA Taiwan study trip


The College of Business Executive Master of Business Administration (Chinese) (EMBA (Chinese) programme has organised a three-day study trip in Taipei, Taiwan from 25th-27th April. Led by Dr Yong Wang, Associate Director of EMBA (Chinese) programme and Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Finance, 15 learning partners from different cohorts participated in the trip.

The expedition aimed to provide learning partners insights in business operations and the latest industry developments through visits to well-known corporates in Taiwan, and exchange sessions with fellow EMBA students from National Taiwan University and National Chengchi University.

Prof Kuang-shih Yeh, Professor of National Chengchi University and former Minister of Ministry of Transportation and Communications of Taiwan, delivered a speech titled “Crisis intervention and organisational change:  Case study of the transformation of Taoyuan International Airport” during the welcoming dinner. 

Highlights of the study trip also included a number of visits to leading Taiwanese corporates, namely, E Ink Holdings Inc., one of the subsidiaries of the largest professional paper manufacturing company in Taiwan - YFT Group; Yuanta Securities, a brokerage firm which provides comprehensive financial services with dominance in securities investment;  Healthconn Corporation, an established healthcare management company; and HTC Corporation, a world-leading designing and manufacturing company for smartphone and tablet devices headquartered in Taiwan, to learn about the new HTC Vive, which allows users to walk around and interact in immersive, simulated environments with a specially designed headset.

The delegation also made tours to The Legislative Yuan of Republic of China and National Palace Museum in Taipei, learning about the political environment and historical background of Taiwan.
