DBA research seminar on new RMB developments


Dr Louis Poon, graduate of the College of Business Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme, presentated on 19th April in a seminar themed RMB Internationalisation Impact to Hong Kong and the Investment Outlook of 2016.

The event was organised by The Chartered Institute of Marketing Hong Kong (CIM) and sponsored by the teaching grants donated by Prof Muammer Ozer, Director of the DBA Programme and the winner of the CityU Teaching Excellence Award 2014/2015.

Dr Rachel Cheung S, Honorary Advisor of the CIM, gave her opening remarks, followed by the presentation by Dr Poon.

Dr Poon shared the recent new developments of the offshore RMB bond market, namely, the increased quotas of the RMB Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (RQFII) and  the Qualified Domestic Institutional Investor (QDII); and their impact to Hong Kong’s financial industry. He ended his sharing with comments on the future investment environment in Hong Kong.    

Dr Poon received his Doctor of Business Administration in CityU in 2014. He is currently serving as the Marketing Director, ETF and Index team of Samsung Asset Management (Hong Kong) Limited. He is also the Chartered Marketer of CIM. Dr Poon is a passionate alumnus who dedicates his time and efforts to support CityU’s development. He is one of the Founding Members of the CityU Eminence Society, and a member of CityU Foundation. He actively participates in the College’s MBA mentorship programme to offer students advice on career planning and development.
