The Department  of Economics and Finance, the Global  Research Unit, and Hong  Kong Institute for Monetary Research co-organised the Conference  on Real Estate and Financial Stability from 22nd to 23rd  August 2016. 
Sponsored by the Hung Hing Ying and Leung Hau Ling Charitable Foundation (孔慶熒及梁巧玲慈善基金), the conference attracted over 50 local and overseas researchers from major research institutions to join and share their insights.
The conference focused on issues  related to changes under real estate market fluctuations, and their impact on financial  stability in society, including the income of households and firms, the availability  of bank loans, the securitisation of other real estate-related assets, and the  investment portfolio management, etc. 
Welcome by Dr Charles Leung Ka-yui, Associate Head  and Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Finance, the  conference featured two keynote speeches titled Commercial Real Estate and Financial Stability by Prof Timothy Riddiough from the  School of Business, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Age, Demographics, and the  Demand for Housing, Revisited by Prof Richard Green from  the University of Southern  California.
