The College of  Business Executive Master of Business Administration (Chinese) (EMBA (Chinese) programme has organised a  three-day study trip in Seattle, US from 24th-26th July. Led by Prof Wenyu Dou, Associate Dean (Graduate  Programmes) and Director of EMBA (Chinese) programme, and two student leaders Weifeng Xu (2015 Fall cohort) and Yudian  Chen (2014 Fall cohort), a  group of 15 learning partners from different cohorts participated in the  expedition.
  The  expedition aimed to understand how Chinese businesses operate in the United States by visiting well-known companies and attending seminars conducted  by faculty from the University  of Washington Bothell (UW Bothell).
Prof Surya Pathak, Associate Professor of Operations  Management, and Prof Ying Li,  Assistant Professor of Finance, both from the School of Business, UW Bothell,  shared case studies on how American SMEs prepare for doing businesses in China,  and vice versa. Mr Yi Ping Chan, Principal of Chanden, Inc. and Dean’s  Advisory Board Member of the UW  Bothell Business School, discussed the strategies for Chinese corporates to  invest in the States.  
The group also visited Boeing, Microsoft and different governmental organisations in the city. They had some fruitful exchange sessions with Mr Brad Owen, Lieutenant Governor of Washington, Mr Andrew Vuong, Vice President of Business Development, Economic Development Council of Seattle & King County, and Dr Mark Wen, President of the Washington State China Chamber of Commerce.
The study tour finished with a gala dinner with the UW Bothell Business School, Greater Seattle Chinese Chamber of Commerce and local Chinese entrepreneurs. The College expressed its gratitude to the UW Bothell Business School, for their hospitality.
