CB welcomes new EMBA learning partners


Orientation for Spring 2017 cohort of the Executive Master of Business Administration (Chinese) (EMBA (Chinese)) programme was held from 20th to 23rd April. 22 new students attended the four-day orientation.

In his opening speech, Prof Wenyu Dou, Director of the EMBA (Chinese) Programme and Associate Dean (Postgraduate Programmes) said that the EMBA community is a good platform for learning partners from different background to exchange industrial experience and knowledge, and to build lifelong, professional network with other elite business leaders.

The orientation programme included a campus tour, workshops, team building activities, alumni sharing session, and a leadership performing class conducted by experienced multimedia artist Ms Koala Yip. In the visit to Hong Kong Cyberport, the group was also welcomed by Dr Toa Charm, our DBA Programme 2014 alumnus and Chief Public Mission Officer at Cyberport, and given a tour there.

An inauguration ceremony cum welcoming dinner was held in the second day of the orientation programme. Prof Matthew Lee, Vice-President (Development & External Relations) of CityU, gave his welcoming remarks and wished the new cohort the best learning experience at CityU. Also attending the ceremony were Prof Wenyu Dou, Associate Dean (Graduate Programmes); Prof Wayne Yu, Assistant Dean (Executive Education); Dr Gang Hao, Assistant Dean (Advancement); Dr John Leung, Director of the EMBA Programme, and other faculty members of the College.

At the ceremony, three groups of energetic, high-spirited learning partners, comprising current cohorts and alumni of the EMBA programme, were sworn in as the participating teams to compete for the School of Business - Xuanzang Road Gobi Challenge (玄奘之路商學院戈壁挑戰賽) (Gobi 12) from 20th to 26th May.

The EMBA (Chinese) builds upon the College's 20-year experience of delivering the EMBA in English. It adopts innovative teaching methodologies and integrates new elements into its curriculum with key focuses on Global outlook, Fresh ways of looking at issues and problems, and approaches infused with Inspiration.
