Joint Forum focuses on One Belt One Road investments


Jointly organised by the College of Business, City University of Hong Kong; GOSS Institute of Research Management Limited; Risk Management Institute, National University of Singapore; and Eurasian System Science Research Association, the forum under the theme of “OBOR Initiative – Our Benefits Our Risks: A focused look at financial investment under the One Belt One Road Initiative”, was held at CityU on 8th May.

The forum this year aimed to discuss the risks and solutions in investment in OBOR countries; the role of Hong Kong under the OBOR initiative; its new forms of financing; and the application of big data analysis.

In his welcoming remarks, Prof Way Kuo, President of CityU, said that Hong Kong as the center of the region, is serving as the best place to study the development of OBOR initiative, and share experiences on investment from the risks perspective.

Other keynote speakers in the forum include Prof Nigning Xu, Executive President, China-ASEAN Business Council; Mr Shuang Chen, Executive Director & CEO, China Everbright Limited; Mr Antony Leung, Group Chairman & CEO, Nan Fung Group; Prof Shusong Ba, Chief China Economist, HKEX; and Prof Jianbo Gao, Director & Founder, Institute of Complexity Science & big Data Technology at Guangxi University.

Speakers of the two panel discussion sessions were Mr Henry Tillman, Chairman of China Investment Research; Mr Yankun Hou, Head of Research of China Equity, China Autos and Auto Parts, UBS Investment Research, UBS AG; Prof Khee Giap Tan, Associate Professor & Co-director of Asia Competitiveness Institute at Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore; Prof Gang Lu, Director of Institute for International Studies, East China Normal University; Prof Jeff Hong, Chair Professor, College of Business at CityU; Prof Jiyi Yan, Former Dean of Graduate School at University of Chinese Academy of Sciences; Prof Wei Jiang, Distinguished Professor, Antai School of Economics and Management at Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Prof Xinshu Zhao, Chair Professor, School of Communication at Hong Kong Baptist University; and Mr Jinqi Zhang, Head of Product Department-Stock and Commodity, Wind Information. The two sessions were chaired by Prof Jiangyu Wang, Associate and Deputy Director of Center for Asian Legal Studies, National University of Singapore, and Prof Wayne Yu, Assistant Dean of College of Business at CityU, respectively.
