Students receive Merit Award in ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition

The final competition of the 11th ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition was held on 3rd February. A College of Business student team, consisted of two students from the Department of Accountancy, Hei-kiu Cheng and Ka-mei Lau, and another student Ching-cheung Lin from the Department of Economics and Finance, won the Merit Award in the competition.

The competition this year was themed “Social Intelligence - from local excellence to global vision”. Contesting students were required to study on a global social enterprise, Red Cross Humanitarian Education Centre, and develop a business proposal to optimize its business operations and expansion in Hong Kong. Mr Horace Ma, Chief Financial Officer, S. Culture Holdings (BVI) Limited, was the coach for the team.

Since its launch in 2007, the annual ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition has provided students a series of workshops and coaching by industry experts, allowing them to suggest creative proposals which integrate business knowledge with social responsibility. Students will be equipped with business analytical, proposal writing, communication and presentation skills at the end of the competition.
