MBA Residential Trip 2018


More than 30 CityU  Master of Business Administration (MBA) students visited Malaysia for a 9-day Enterprise Diagnostic Residential Trip from 20th to 28th May. One key focus of the trip was to offer students practical experience through a consultancy project for the Melaka Gateway (MG) project, a premier mixed development project initiated by KAJ Development Sdn Bhd (KAJD).  

Led by Prof Kevin Chiang, MBA Director, the group was divided into four teams supervised by Dr Wilson Chan , Dr Chew Seen-meng, Dr Wei Liyuan and Dr Selina Wan, respectively, to give recommendations on the MG project on one-stop global port development and tourism ecosystem, especially the cruise business.

To better understand Malaysian port business and tourism, the group visited Westports of Port Klang, one of the largest Malaysian ports. They also attended a talk about the property development in Melaka and surrounding areas, and had an insightful sharing session about tourism Melaka. They also met with KAJD’s management team and interviewed various managers and directors of the company to gather data and information for their works. Towards the end of the trip, the teams presented their findings and recommendations to the senior management of KAJD, and they will also submit thorough reports to the company later on.

During the stay, the students got a chance to exchange with Dr Caroline Tan from the MBA Program in International Business of University of Tsukuba and her MBA student.
