First Computational Finance student to study at Columbia University

After rigorous selection, four students from the College of Business were admitted to the Joint Bachelor’s Degree Program between City University of Hong Kong and Columbia University. Hou Jiangtian Joey, BSc Computational Finance (CFIN) student, will join another three students from the Department of Economics and Finance, to embark on another learning journey in the United States in coming September.

Being the first CFIN student chosen for the Joint Bachelor’s Degree Program, Joey is excited and looks forward to the new learning journey.  He said, “I am so glad to fulfill my dream of studying in a new environment and furthering my study at Columbia University. In the future, I will try my best to achieve the goal of appreciating multicultural minds and facing hurdles with unfailing confidence!’’

CFIN is one of the two elite undergraduate programs of the College which offers state-of-the-art training in finance, mathematics, statistics, computer programming and information technology. Graduates will be able to pursue career in areas of fintech, blockchain, asset management, investment banking etc. Starting from 2019/20 academic year, BSc Computational Finance will be renamed as BSc Computational Finance and Financial Technology (CFFT) to reflect the new key focuses of the program.
