MBA partners with UC Berkeley in Entrepreneurship and Venture Plan Development Workshop

Led by Programme Director Professor Kevin Chiang, a group of 40 students in Master of Business Administration (MBA) completed the Entrepreneurship and Venture Plan Development Workshop at University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) in June 2019. Through learning-by-doing, students went through the process from ideas generation, customer discovery, market validation and idea pitching.

In the theory-based lecture about Silicon Valley’s entrepreneurship model delivered by faculty from Haas School of Business of UC Berkeley, MBA students acquired knowledge on business innovation process. They also went through a series of learning-by-doing activities, including building a prototype of a product and visits to Identify3D, Ford Innovation Lab and Google to get a glimpse of the innovating culture in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area.

The same as previous years, renowned academics and industry veterans were invited to share their startup experience, particularly on pitching and acquiring capital investment. Furthermore, students also got a chance to meet an entrepreneur panel comprising experienced entrepreneurs from startups in San Francisco including Nano Precision Medical and Ocho Candy.

Highlight of the trip was a group project presentation where students experienced real life business idea pitching. Students were divided into teams to prepare and present their venture plans, they gained valuable comments from a judging panel comprised of faculty from Hass School, entrepreneurs and venture capital investors in Silicon Valley.
