2019 College Orientation for undergraduate students

Around 600 freshmen gathered at the College Orientation Day 2019 on 29 August. The event, hosted by the College’s Undergraduate Programme team and the College of Business Leadership Club (CBLC), aimed to help new students understand about the College and introduce them to supports and resources available at CityU.

Riding on the theme “Write your future”, the event gave new students useful tips on studying at CityU. Through video, sharing and interactive games, students got familiar with the College’s resources. They were also given a tailored “CB passport” which listed out the checklist and tips for their university journey.

Dr Raymond Wong, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programmes) of the College, gave a welcome remark. He highlighted the College’s initiatives that facilitate the student’s learning journey, including double major arrangement, internship opportunities, exchange programmes and career services. He said, “You all can do very well, but sometimes, you may not know how good you are. We provide abundant resources and give our best to help bring out the best in you.” Dr Wong mentioned that the College has an open culture and all staff members are always here to help. He encouraged students to seek help and advice from the College.

CBLC invited alumna Daphne Lau (BBA China Business 2012), who is also a new PhD student of the College, to share tips on school life at CB. She encouraged freshmen to proactively enjoy the exchange and internship opportunities in CityU.

Also attending the event were Professor Houmin Yan, Dean, Professor Weiquan Wang, Associate Dean (Research and Faculty), Dr Andrew Chan, Director of First Year Teaching and Learning, Heads and Acting Heads from the six Departments Professor Jeong-bon Kim, Professor Ma Yue, Professor Choon-ling Sia, Professor Haibin Yang, Professor Frank Chen and Professor Julie Li.
