CB holds seminar for Executive MBA students from Sogang University, Korea

The “Winter Seminar for Sogang Executive MBA Programme” was held at Academic 3 on 22nd January. 14 students from the Sogang Executive MBA Programme (SEMBA) of Sogang Business School (SBS) at Sogang University in Korea attended the seminar as part of the 2014 Winter SEMBA Global Programme offered by SBS in Hong Kong from 21st to 25th January.

The seminar was co-organized by the Executive Education Unit of the College of Business and Sogang University. Prof Wenyu Dou, Associate Dean of the College, and Dr Yanni Yan, Director of Executive Development (International Programmes), welcomed the students in the opening ceremony and wished them a fruitful and memorable learning experience at CityU.

Four lectures focused on understanding the business environment in China markets were arranged for the class and were delivered by Prof Leon Zhao, Head and Chair Professor of the Department of Information Systems, and Prof Julie Li, Associate Dean of the College of Business and Professor of the Department of Marketing. In the lecture Doing Business in China, Prof Li shared her research findings on the effects of business and political ties on firm performance with students. She concluded her lecture with a number of critical factors for doing successful business in China, for instance the importance of reliable market research and comprehensive data analysis.

In the closing ceremony, Prof Dou along with Prof Gwangheon Hong, Faulty Director of SEMBA Programme, winded up the event and presented completion certificates to participants. Souvenirs were exchanged between the two schools.
